Tuesday Testimony Time

One of the greatest privileges we have is to see the change in peoples lives. A women Dee that we supported to rehab has given us permission to share her story of hope.

My Journey to hope

I felt totally lost deep in the depth of despair in my addiction to the point of going so low smoking crack ,taking prescription drugs anything I could get my hands on really.

I was introduced to Freedom City Church by my beautiful cousin who tragically lost her own life to addiction but if it wasn't for her I wouldn't have walked through the doors.

I was desperate to get into rehab or any sort of program to kick this horrific addiction .

I was introduced to Aruka in freedom city church they believed in me and knew how much I wanted to change my life around .

After a few months wait Aruka supported me to get a placement in Steps to Hope SCIO , residential rehabilitation program in Edinburgh, where I spent 3 month's doing a 12 step program this has changed my life, I am so grateful to Aruka, Freedim City Church and steps to hope.

I am 9 months clean, I am connected to Freedim City church Sundays, Tuesdays & Thursdays.

I also volunteer at a recovery cafe Tuesday & Wednesday at the Set Free Project cafe giving hope back & Tony's Safe PlaceWednesday helping with accounts .

On my journey I will always stay close to God he has been my higher power to help me get through my journey of hope when at times I questioed myself, I trusted he would always guide me on the right path.

My steps to hope family will always stay close to my heart returning every Friday helping others see the power of hope to beat addiction, I've had so much opportunities through STH going to Africa saving lives through teaching kindness giving back to so many less fortunate than ourselves an experience that will stay with me forever
